WithJK was founded in 2016 by Architect and Designer, Joel Kahn. His vision is to enable creativity and uniqueness in a world that is fast-paced, mostly automated and flooded with mass-produced, short-lived fashion. While most jewelry brands use 3D printing to produce ever changing trends of jewelry in high quantities, WithJK uses this technology to create timeless individual pieces of high quality. Each one of our rings is custom-crafted on order and designed by you. This is a more sustainable and environmentally friendly approach, as there are no wasted materials, no overproduction, and no long storage time.
Custom-craft your own design by following the three simple steps on the website provided.Step one is about selecting a shape that speaks to you the most.Than proceed to step two, selecting your favourite texture. The third and final step is selecting the precious metal that you want your ring to be made of.
Once you have created your own ring and completed the check-out process, your custom-crafted order is sent directly to the 3D printing facility based in New York City. Your custom ring will be 3D printed in wax using the newest 3D printing technology. Afterwards, a traditional casting process is used to burn away the wax and replace it with your selected precious metal. Combining traditional casting methods with modern technology.
After the casting process your ring will be polished until perfection by highly experienced jewelers. Once the process is finished, your ring will sent directly to the address you have provided to us.
We also provide a unique service for those who seek a new way for a second income. WithJK is rather unconventional for a jewelry design brand. The rings are unique and surprising, the customization process is creative and the 3D-printed embossing and engraving is new and innovative. There is a simple reason for WithJK's unusual style: Joel Kahn.
The founder and CEO of WithJK Joel Kahn has lived in three different countries, worked in construction, sailed the world on a cargo ship, developed a concept for an open-water fish farming system for prison inmates, studied architecture and ended up a jewelry designer. He also loves the outdoors, scuba- and sky-diving, kite-surfing and sailing.
To understand the idea of WithJK, you first have to understand the man behind it. It’s an unusual journey that started in his childhood days. Kahn was born in Australia, grew up in the Netherlands, before returning back to his birthplace. Always on the move, he knows the value of owning something unique and something that matters, instead of a collection of ordinary things.
Always having to start over and always being the new kid, he understands the importance of inclusion and equality. Having made friends from all races, religions and sexual orientations, Kahn aims to offer all kinds of symbols, which express this diversity, for embossing and engraving in his rings.
To understand the idea of WithJK, you first have to understand the man behind it. It’s an unusal journey that started in his childhood days. Kahn was born in Australia, grew up in the Netherlands, before returning back to his birth place. Always on the move, he knows the value of owning something unique something that matters, instead of a collection of nothing special things.
Kahn has always been creative, drawing and crafting since he was little: so his decision to study architecture was an easy one.
Since travel was in his blood, he returned to Europe to study at the prestigious Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia in Barcelona, Spain. What he loves about architecture is combining learning with the freedom of design: whether it’s across construction, mathematics, human psychology or through modern technologies like 3D-printing. Throughout his studies, Joel Kahn worked on multiple projects to improve living conditions of various people, such as vertical farming residences. However he soon grew impatient. In architecture, it takes years to see designs come to life. So he started designing smaller objects that could be 3D-printed. This is how WithJK started. Over time, it developed into the jewelry design company that it is today.
The rings of WithJK are unique. Not just because they can be customized to the tastes and likes of each customer, but because each ring design has a story. Kahn’s designs are inspired by his two great passions: architecture and nature. A day at the beach, a walk through the Australian bush, a visit to Gaudi’s Sagrada Familia in Barcelona: these experiences all stimulate his creativity. What sets Kahn’s design-thinking apart from other jewelry designers is the way he processes those inspirations. Because of his architectural background and his love for modern technology, Kahn takes those organic inspirations and turns them into parametric designs.
*Parametric design is a brand new way of combining mathematics and creative thinking to craft new and complex shapes that were previously impossible.
The Pipes texture resembles construction pipes or wires, the backbone of a building. They seem delicate but possess great strength.
The Poly textures is derived from low poly art. A collec-tion of perfectly synchronized triangles. This is geometric precision at its best.
The Smooth texture is untouched, like a white sheet of paper. It’s waiting for someone to pick up a pen and write a story on it.
The Stones texture is inspired by cracks in the dessert. Unbearable living conditions, dry heat. It symbolizes danger, risk and adventure.
The Voronoi texture mimics the wings of a dragonfly. Fragile, ethereal and beautiful. It represents the unbound freedom of flying.
The Surge ring simulates waves crashing onto the beach, rolling over each other, creating a constant ripple, a surge of water.
The Wave ring embodies pure energy. The symmetrical shape is a reminder, that a wave, once in motion, is hard to control.
The Royal ring is an architectural masterpiece. Inspired by the heart, full of love, easy to wound, too precious to reveal to the world.
The Shell ring mimics the form of a jewel, resting on top of the ring. Its simplicity puts design above gems, texture above bling.
The Classic ring is inspired by old-fashioned wedding bands. It symbolizes the lasting love of a happy marriage, unadorned and timeless.
The Morph ring is inspired by the round, hard shell of a turtle. It embodies the protective power and wisdom of this gorgeous creature.
The Ripple ring replicates the arches in a cathedral. Strong, organic curves that hold up the ancient dome of a holy building.
The Rider ring is inspired by a wooden rocking horse and a leather saddle, that Kahn lovingly crafted over months, when he was just 18.
